• There were 3 organisations delivering young person’s (YP) substance use services within Gwent. Choices in Monmouthshire and Torfaen, DAYS in Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent and B@1 in Newport. This was supported by S-CAMHS complex support in Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, and Newport only.

  • Gwent YP services were recommissioned, and the contract was awarded to Barod to deliver one integrated service across Gwent. S-CAMHS were also commissioned to deliver in partnership across Gwent. This service became Gwent N-gage (named by a young person engaging with the service).

  • Following a service review in late 2020, changes were made to enhance support: family assistance broadened, case workers reduced to 5, a transitions and young adult worker introduced, the engagement team expanded for community involvement, and the activities worker now offers well-being support.

  • The Family support offered by Gwent N-gage was expanded and branched out from N-gage to form The Gwent Drug and Alcohol Family Service (GDAFS). The two services work closely together to provide all young person’s and family services within Gwent.
